Review Bodacious Space Pirates, part 2
Part 2: The music (read part 1 here)
BSP surprised me when it came to background music. I was watching an episode and suddenly thought, “That’s beautiful. Does this have a soundtrack?” The answer is yes. The complete original soundtrack has two CDs for the TV series and one for the movie. Almost all songs are around a minute thirty or forty, but it’s over two hours total in a wide range of styles, from techno to jazz to classical to humorous with a slide whistle and steel drums. About half of the songs on the third disc are extended/reworked versions from the TV series. Almost all songs on the three CDs are great candidates for becoming ringtones for your phone, which I’m going to be working on. I might have enough to change the ringtone ev…
Review: Bodacious Space Pirates, part 1
Part 1: Pirating, the universe and future tech
Bodacious. Adjective: Blatant, unmistakable, remarkable, outstanding, audacious, bold, brazen, sexy, voluptuous.
Space. Noun: Big. Really Big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is.
Pirates. Noun, plural: Persons who have been given written legal permission by a government to engage in the acquisition and seizure of property from others, which often includes providing entertainment for passengers aboard cruise ships.
Let’s take a trip into the distant future, to a time when humans have both colonized and terraformed other planets. We’ve been to Tau Ceti and beyond, through the usual steps of colony/sleeper ships and then developing faster-than-light travel. Even though …
Introduction to my reviews
Every so often, I'll write movie reviews on a different website and I've recently expanded it into doing reviews of TV shows for series that have been completed so I can look at the entire storyline as a whole. I'll repost the ones for anime series here in my blog.
I will give everyone fair warning. I don't write reviews as soundbytes or provide TL;DR summaries. Some of them are the same length as articles you'd read in a newspaper or magazine.
Each word is carefully considered and I think it will be worth your time and interest if you see it through.
Fanon!
I am writing this blog in case anyone is interested. Soon, I will be starting a wikia fanon for this series. I love its portrayal of space travel, starships etc. I even love the fact they are using the Letter of marque, to which are used since the medieval ages, and still in use. And to keep it like the fanon, the appearance will look like the this one (cause I like it :3).
If anyone wants a fanon page for this amazing series, say so in the commends below ;3
Log Entry - 06/06/2014
Several months have passed, there's still a lot of stuff to do on the wiki, and it is steadily increasing - it seems unlikely that it will all be done by the time of the movie's home release. At least, there is a new background ready for when that time comes (many thanks to Miyanlove of the Logo Creation Wiki for making it).
As for the series, Abyss of Hyperspace has been released and it seems to have been received reasonably well from what I've come across, though the full picture is still unclear. Various pieces of information concerning it have surfaced, though none of it beyond the intro will be added to the wiki until the movie's home release in Japan. The first volume of the movie's manga and the Akiman Design Works have also been rel…
Log Entry -13/02/2014
It's been quite a while since the last log entry (as I thought, I'm rubbish at this kind of thing).
A fair number of things have happened in the meantime. The wiki's now got a favicon - many thanks to Queennicolee of the Logo Creation Wiki for creating it. A new regular contributor has also appeared, one who has read the novels and provided lots of information (thanks very much for that, MythSearcher). In December, we finally got information on the upcoming Mouretsu Pirates movie, Abyss of Hyperspace.
There's a fair amount of stuff regarding the series at the moment - not really surprising seeing as the movie is coming out in cinemas in Japan on the 22nd (as such there are various collabs and tie-ins happening as well) and Volume 11 came out…
What would you like to see in the movie or a future anime series?
At the time of writing, it is just under seven months before the movie's release date and there has been practically no news regarding the movie's plot or that of a future series. This leaves plenty of room for speculation.
My question is this:
What would you hope to see in the movie or a future series?
If the poll on the main page was anything to go by, it seems a lot of people would prefer a mix of both novel and original elements - indeed, a mix would probably be the best choice considering the circumstances.

I thought I might try something different for a change, though I don't imagine this will become a regular thing (I'm not good at writing blog posts).
Construction work on the wiki has been going on for months now and is still ongoing - the list of stuff to do is still as large as ever. Earlier this month, the wiki got a logo - thanks to DinoKev of the Logo Creation Wiki. As the wiki's current structure and layout is reasonably sufficient, I intend to focus on making sure that most of the articles are shipshape content wise before tackling structural and layout issues (though a certain someone seems keen to make such changes sooner).
I do wonder though whether everything will be done by the time the movie comes out (even…
