The Karyoubinga (迦陵頻伽, Karyōbinga) is a pirate ship bearing a Letter of Marque.

Technology and Combat CharacteristicsEdit

The Karyoubinga is less mobile than the Barbaroosa [1].

The Karyoubinga received its Letter of Marque from the Sinclair D government, which came with the noble title of "Earl" and less restrictions than the one issued to the Bentenmaru [2].

Three Ships Arc (Novel-Only)Edit

The Karyoubinga was first mentioned by Kenjo Kurihara in the Garnet A system and again when Barbaroosa arrived outside the control zone of freedom city Meiya, an artificial planet of the Mesaiya system, where the Bentenmaru was protecting the Odette II from the Chimaera of Skylla and its 8 underlings.

After Müller Grant left to gather more forces, Karyoubinga arrived along with the other privateer ships and escorted Odette II through the Scalar Route until the 7 ships encountered and fought with the forces of the Pirate Guild led by the Chimaera of Skylla. Surviving the situation until the end, Karyoubinga presumably also received a letter of invitation from Müller inviting them to join the Pirate Guild, like the Bentenmaru, Barbaroosa, Odette II and Ririka Kato [3].

Skull Star Arc (Novel-Only)Edit

The Karyoubinga was one of the only three ships left, along with the Bentenmaru and Barbaroosa, in the training exercise with the Imperial Fleet, surviving longer than the expected time by 221%. It launched a final attack along with Bentenmaru and Barbaroosa on Marika Kato's request, without proper communication, and lured the Hunter Killer ships from the main fleet to attack it before ganging on Barbaroosa and Bentenmaru, which successfully hid Bentenmaru under Barbaroosa, further gaining some hits before the pirates' side lost the training mission. After the debriefing, the commanding officers of the three ships, including Karyoubinga's captain and first mate, were asked to escort Nash to the Skull Star [1].

Wanted Arc (Novel-Only)Edit

Not long before the attack on Maria Forte 85, the Karyoubinga went missing. It later reappeared along with the Imperial Fleet when Barbaroosa and Bentenmaru were fighting the Rakion fleet [4].

  • The ship's name comes from the Japanese name for the Kalaviṅka, a creature from Buddhism.
